Albergo Quattropani

A quiet, properly run hotel on the north of Lipari, away from the port and the evening crowd.

Lipari town is busy and worth two evenings; Quattropani is twenty minutes north of it and completely still. Fourteen rooms around a courtyard, a small pool that gets sun until six, and a kitchen that does one thing a night.

It is the base we use for the middle of an Aeolian week, when travellers want a day of doing nothing between boats.

What we like

  • Rooms 8 and 9, which face the sea and the sunset
  • That the owner drives you to the hydrofoil himself
  • The bar, which has an unreasonable amount of amaro

Worth knowing. You need a car or a lift for dinner in town. The hotel runs a shuttle at eight and nine, and not after.
