The shape of it
A single base on the Tyrrhenian shore, with the citrus terraces, the tuna coast and two of the islands within reach of it.
The shortest of our Italian journeys and the one for travellers who do not want to move. You unpack once, on the coast below the caper fields, and everything else comes to you or is within an hour.
It runs in spring and autumn only, because the two things it is built around — the citrus in April and the caper harvest in early June, or the grape in late September — do not exist in August.
Small group, maximum eight, which is how we can get all of you into kitchens and cellars that will not take a coach.

Arrive and settle
Met at Palermo or Catania and driven to the coast. The first evening is an aperitivo on the terrace and an early dinner, and nothing is asked of you.

Elena ran a fourteen-room hotel on Salina until 2011, which is where most of the Aeolian network came from: the skippers, the caper growers, the two families whose houses we still use in August.
She plans the Italian journeys herself and will argue with you about the order of the islands. She is usually right, and she will tell you when she is not sure.
Known for: Getting travellers onto Alicudi and Filicudi in the first week of September, when the boats are full and the beds are not for sale.
