A restored caper farmer's house above the west-facing bay on Salina, with the terrace that runs the week.
Six rooms in a house that was a working caper farm until the eighties, on the terraces above Pollara. There is no reception, no spa and no pool. There is a long terrace facing west, a cook called Rosaria, and a path down to the water that takes eleven minutes and feels longer coming back.
Rooms are plain and cool: lime plaster, linen, shutters that actually close. Breakfast is on the terrace until eleven because nobody is in a hurry.
What we like
- The terrace at seven in the evening, which is the reason to be on Salina at all
- Rosaria's pasta with wild fennel, which is on the table twice a week and never announced
- That it is a five-minute walk to a bar with nine tables and no menu
Worth knowing. The walk back up from the bay is 140 steps in the heat. If that is a problem, ask us for a room on the lower terrace and we will arrange the car.
