A restored townhouse in the northern wards, ten minutes from everything and quiet at night.
A machiya of the long, narrow type, carefully rebuilt around two small gardens. Eight rooms, cypress baths, and a ground-floor room where breakfast is laid out and nobody speaks much before eight.
The location is the point: north of the centre, on a residential street, within walking distance of the textile district and a short taxi from the eastern temples before they open.

- Being able to walk home from dinner in Nishijin
Worth knowing. Machiya are timber buildings. You will hear your neighbours on the stairs. If that matters, we would put you somewhere else.
